beehiiv setup

Connect your publications. Create, schedule, and publish from Postii.

Set up with your AI assistant

Paste this prompt into an assistant with browser site-tool support.

1. Get your API key

  1. Sign in to beehiiv as a workspace Owner or Admin.
  2. Open Settings → Workspace Settings → API. Complete account verification if required.
  3. Choose Create New API Key and name it Postii.
  4. Copy the key and save it securely—it is only shown once.

Enter the key only in Postii’s connection form, never in an agent chat.

2. Connect a publication

Browse all platforms below the homepage prompt box opens the platform directory. Clicking the beehiiv card opens its app page. Connect there opens sign-up for visitors or the connection form for signed-in users. Other platforms are marked Coming soon. Use the signed-in dashboard below to set up your actual connection.

  1. In Postii, choose Connect a platform, then App store → beehiiv → Connect. Existing publications appear in My connections. The workspace menu → Settings → Connectors also works; on mobile, open the navigation menu first.
  2. Paste your key and select Find publications.
  3. Choose a publication, then Connect publication. A toast confirms it’s saved.

Postii encrypts your saved key server-side. Connections are private to your signed-in account. You do not need to copy a publication ID.

More than one publication?

Click + beside Manage on your connected beehiiv row, or open Manage → Add publication. Use saved key to find another publication, or enter a different key. Each publication stays separate: you can check its connection, replace its key, or disconnect it individually. Disconnecting does not cancel posts already scheduled in beehiiv.

3. Create, schedule, or publish

In Dashboard → Platforms, select the publication names. Add your text, press Submit, and review the chat-style readiness check. Resolve any content barriers, then choose Continue with beehiiv. Enter a title and choose Save draft, Publish now, or Schedule. Review every destination and confirm.

beehiiv’s create-post API requires Max or Enterprise and Send API access, including for drafts. Connecting a key alone does not verify sending access.

Postii currently sends text paragraphs using the publication’s default template. Publishing targets its website and free email subscribers. Attachments and combined social/beehiiv sends are not supported yet.

Save draft sends nothing. Scheduled times use your browser’s timezone. Processing means beehiiv has accepted the request—not that the post is live. Use Refresh status or Activity to check. For multiple publications, inspect each result; do not resend successful ones.

API or MCP?

Postii currently connects through the beehiiv API. Postii’s browser tools can use that saved connection. beehiiv also offers its own OAuth MCP: paid plans support drafting and editing, but publishing and scheduling happen in the beehiiv app. That separate OAuth connection is not yet built into Postii.

Troubleshooting

No API settings
Check your workspace role and account verification in beehiiv.
No publications found
Check the key’s workspace and access. Add publication only lists publications that are not already connected.
Key rejected or connection failed
Confirm the key has not been revoked. Use Manage to check the connection or replace the key. For a temporary error, use Try again.
Connected, but cannot create a post
Check the publication’s plan and Send API access. Connection access and post-creation access are different.
An interrupted or uncertain send
Check Activity and beehiiv before trying again. Retry unconfirmed requests preserves the original operation IDs to avoid duplicates.
